Its the new addition to my driveway used vehicle lot. Hopefully I wont have to drive the race truck to the races anymore. Its kinda nice having air conditioning on these 100 degree days we've been having around here lately...

We use Motorcraft and Rotella T here at the dealership, pretty much any CJ rated oil will be fine, I have even run Green oil in my rig.....................I run whatever I can get free at the time lol.
I'm a dealer for Swamp's diesel as well as Total Diesel Performance. From time to time I run across a deal on a chip here and there, just pm me if your interested and I'll see what I can do.

Rotella or Motorcraft. Usually I can find the 5qt Motorcraft jug for the same price as the 4qt jug of Rotella...Saves around 12-13 bucks.

Jon, what could you recommend for me on my '03 with 7.3, auto? I have ford ais on it and 4" turbo back exhaust. Would like a little more towing ability with it. 324,000 mi on original injectors and no oil usage to speak of. Thanks

with those miles the injectors have to be tired, and if they have never been replaced the up pipes from the ex manifolds to the turbo are gonna be worn and leaking. A chip is always the bang for the buck, dont forget the tranny, a good cooler and an accumulator to firm the shifts up will help it live.

IMO, two oils are atop of my list. Rotella and Delo. These two are tried and tested in road trucks that give excellent service and do more work than our over-powered pickup's will ever do. It seems the Rotella is much easier to locate and at a reasonable price in the "big box" stores. I wish Rotella manufactured or the local "big box" stores stocked a light weight version, I would use it in all my vehicles!

While we are on the subject of Ford Powerstrokes, especially the 2001 7.3 version, is there a good chip or programmer one could use to honestly improve fuel mileage and transmission operation. Of course at a reasonable price!

a chip can help but its not gonna be a magic 10mpg increase. As far as the tranny goes you can change the shift points and converter lock up timing with the chip but the firmness needs to be done with an accumulator.........jacking epc up with the chip is not the best idea. The tranny mods on these trucks is a whole different ball of wax lol.

Fabio hooked me up with a tune for mine. It is a 4 position switch. Stock/mpg,high idle,tow/haul and extreme. Before I installed it, I was averaging around 20 mpg on the interstate with my truck. After installing the chip, I now get 22 mpg. The shift points are noticeably better in tow haul. It seems to hold it in gear just a little longer. I love it,especially when going into overdrive while pulling a heavy load. The chip I bought from from him was the best money I've spent on my truck thus far. Just my .02. ---RED

20 mpg's... I bet you have 3:73 gears. My dulley has 4:11 and the best I ever got was 18. I think the wife figured it wrong though...

The OBS trucks had 4.10 or 3.55 gear options IIRC.

Is there a higher (ratio) available for the 2001 F250's? I have pondered changing to a higher ratio gear set. My Powerstroke consistently logs high 18 MPG reading, although not 19 MPG to date. I wonder if a lower engine speed would improve the overall MPG.

I bet you can get about any gear ratio through an aftermarket company you want.
