Stormy night Empty Stormy night

Post  John I. September 29th 2009, 10:56 pm

We had us a little storm on Saturday night. Blew the neighbors 50X80 shop a quarter mile away. Did $50,000 damage to my brothers hay crop and sprinklers. For the first time in my life, I headed for the basement. Nothing like you southerners get, but scared the crap out of me. Wind speeds near 100 mph. I just got my internet back.

We only got a few pictures before we hit the basement.

Those are some awesome shots of the meso............... Very Happy

Actually have a very potent system to arrive here Thursday, almost took of to go chase, but the models are bringing it in too fast and it looks to be a bad ass squall line east of here into the jungle, so I'll opt to sit it out...............

If you want that kind of weather you should live here in Oklahoma............. bounce

I've always wondered if someday, somebody would recognize the truck if I keep posting pictures of it on the internet. It came out of Sacramento a few years back via e-bay, and I bought it from the guy that bought it there. Maybe someday, some guy will go "hey that's my truck!" It currently has the stock 460 with a Weiand stealth (picked up 3 tenths!) and I'm in the process of putting headers on it. It's going to be a D00E-R headed 545 in a few years, and I'm getting everything set up for it - hench the Weiand on a stock 460.

Man that sucks Frank. Crying or Very sad That isn't just a little setback there now. I have had losses like that feeding cattle before and we came back and are alright, hope you can too. There is not that much margin in farming any more to take many hits like that and come back. Cool

Schmitty , the only bright side of things is everything is paid for , but combining 300 acres of alfalfa seed as a salvage operation is a sad thing !! The crop was not going to be that grate this year ( had some hail damage)but there would have been some profit ($300-$400 an acre)but now I don't think theirs enough seed left to cover the input costs of growing it ($300-$400 per acre) Most of the time combine season is a jollyous time of the year !! but not this year but farming is always a next year thing and just have to think about the years that I made $1500 an acre after expenses!!

Yep Frank, a farmer has to be an eternal optimist. Things do get better. We went through a real bad drought here a couple of years ago. My wifes grandad said it was wetter during the dirty 30's. The only thing that saves us is irrigation. Cool

I would think a 705" motor would be ideal for an irrigation unit. You could run all of your pivots with one motor. Laughing
