E.O.I.C.
stands for Exhaust Opening, Intake Closing
When the exhaust valve just begins to open, the intake will be closed and when the intake just begins to close, the exhaust valve will be closed

I used to do EOIC. It can lead to madness if there's any run-out on the base of the lobe. I switched to #1 at TDC, then every 90 degrees according to the firing order. It's more consistent for my situation, but it may not work for yours. I run a mid-sized solid flat tappet.

E.O.I.C is best, but not the fastest. For a street solid/hyd cam the tdc/90* deal will be just fine.

Does it matter what cyl. you start with ?So basically you watch the Exhaust and when the top of rocker arm starts down you adjust the Intake. Then after adjusting the Intake you watch it go all way down and the time it starts back up you adjust the Exhaust right? The Intake side is one I get confused on.I have read to adjust the time it starts up and also read let it come up some before adjustment so with one is correct.I also read to adjust by firing order and use comp lube on the valve tips.

Not really, but it's probably easiest to start with #1 (or #5). When the Intake valve starts to close adjust the exhaust valve, when the exhaust starts to open adjust the intake. Get a bump starter to attach to your solenoid and make sure the coil\distributor is defeated. Be consistent with your method and you'll be in good shape.

I know what you mean, Rick. I have trouble leaning over a fender while wearing my girdle, too.
Oh, wait...I bet you meant something else........

What issues you have ? Got to fit mine soon just wondering. I'm guessing , rechecking clearances after the girdle is fitted ?

Oh,it's not that bad i guess,No issues except just getting them on evenly and ready for adjustment. You got to recheck after initial to make sure your adj. has stayed the same because when you tighten them down they will pull the stud some and throw them out.
I always get them in place, then adjust one cyl.int/exh then tighten the two girdle bolts then go to the next one. This way your adj. stays correct.

I figured that's what you meant. Thank you. Was just curious as I have a Jomar set I've had for ages I really should get around to fitting.
