D1ve vs Dove block with 4 bolt caps????
Question I am trying to settle here. If you have a D1ve block and a Dove block, both with 4 bolt caps on them, will one be better than the other or will they be the same now the 4 bolt caps are installed. We are discussing a build with nitrous and a 4.3 crank with probaly .080 bore to about 7,200 rpms.

D0VE main webbing is marginally thicker. Really depends on what caps were used and how they were installed. I can tell you some prefer 3/8" bolts on the splayed outers on a D1VE conversions as the larger bolts tend to weaken the webbing.

While not a D1 block I had a C8 block that is basically the same (if the D1 is thin web). It had Blue Thunder main caps on the center 3 and was filled to the bottom of the water pump holes. I ran it for about 6 years in 2 different dragsters as a 557 until the cast crank broke at close to 1200 passes.
i stepped up to an A460 block at that time.
This same block is still in use today in Ward's (Drs Wife) car as 533. It will run 5.40's on a lil spray in a stock suspension Fox body.....So use the D0VE if you have it, but no reason to shy away from the D1 if that's what you have.

Thanks guys, we are looking at both, I have a D1ve that needs a bore, 4 bolt caps and finished. The Dove block is bone stock so it will need a little bit more TLC. We was looking if one was stronger due to the web thickness.

If your going .080 don't forget to sonic test the block.
IMO its best to just bore what it needs to clean up, cylinder wall thickness is beneficial.
Fill it too.

Ok so from what I have found out the blue thunder is best sutited for the D1ve block and the mildon are best sutited for the dove block. Blue thunder is not been making any caps for a while, I found out.
