What Starter do you use?
Well just my luck trying to unload the trailer for the winter and needed to start one of the cars and the thing quits CSI (which in now CSR). This came with the car and I know its old so not sure if they will rebuild it or better off buying a new one.

I also run the CSR. But I always carry a spare spring and keeper for the bendix. they crap out at the worst possible time.
Looked at my buddy's Mezeire last month and the bendix is a different better design.
I have heard lots of good things about the stock truck units but never tried one.

Ace,
You purchase one for a 1995 F-250 truck, with the 460 engine and a automatic. We use them in everything around here. Lem said they were a gear reduction unit and also lighter,,,,and they work very well.

You will not find a better starter than a Meziere. I could not believe the difference when I put mine on.

Re: What Starter do you use?
I used to use Tiltons and CSR's with no troubles...now use the Ford truck unit Charlie described, works great. Also,...buy it once, as most parts store chains offer a lifetime warranty if you omit the fact that it's for a racecar, most don't even care. Free starters for life.

They have a stick application for that era truck I would check the tooth count on the starter gears and if the same go for it. I use the same starter as well with zero issues.

Re: What Starter do you use?
Well checked the local parts stores and anywhere from $135-$199 and all wanted a $35 core charge. the starter being $199 was a Factory starter from ford. I'm going to at least call CSR and see if there in to rebuilding them Or if the have a trade in program

I use a CVR denso style. Had it about 10 years and it's been on 3 different cars. Refuses to die. If it ever croaks I'll get int of the DB Electrical ford type mini starters.

Great choice Lem. I now have that starter on LiL Tweety. When I bought mine a couple years ago,I ask the sales guy if I bought two would he delete shipping charges. He did. They work great.

The last DB electrical starter I bought wouldn't line up right,it was just a hair off.I put the nose off the old starter on it and it worked fine.

starter
I've been using an AES (Automotive Electrical Service) mini starter for years with no issues turning over my blower motor. It has the adjustable face so you can clock the solinoid to any position for headers.
