They are both in the "family" of OEM production heads. They are an aluminum aftermarket version of the old factory cast iron CobraJet head,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but greatly improved.

Top to bottom of the OEM/CJ style heads.

1. P-51 heads, made and sold by Jon Kaase
2. FRPP SCJ heads, made and sold by Ford and their FRPP (old SVO) dealers
3. BT CJ with the raised exhaust port and Chevy header bolt pattern, made and sold by Blue Thunder and their dealers.
4. TFS Power Port 290 heads. Made and sold by Trick Flow and their dealers
5. BT CJ with the raised exhaust port and Ford header bolt pattern, made and sold by Blue Thunder dealers
6. Older out of production A-429 CJ heads, made and sold by Ford and their FRPP / SVO dealers
7. Edelbrock Performer and CJ heads. Made and sold by Edelbrock dealers.
8. BT CJ with the Ford exhaust port in the standard location, made and sold by Blue Thunder dealers. Note; most of these Blue Thunder heads are backordered and have not been available for a couple of years now.
9. Pro Comp heads, made and sold by Chinese and very various other names on the internet stores. It's a pretty cheap imitation of the Edelbrock heads.

I likee the scj head that summit sells.for.dunno book in car looked.cheap. will these heads require different pistons? What do they flow.stock? As.delivered.
I want I budget build are these heads for me? Or edelbrocks.be better? Same stock piston design? STD Ford exhast port location? They got headders that fix great in a.fox body. A 528 or 557 is on my mind. Will a size end of that with one of these heads with 10/11 comp. With pretty good size hyd roller cam with PA C4.if tubbed fox.4.30s run 10.0 on motor? Really I'd like to run on 93 pump. Options please.
also bottom end..running stock block. Srp pistons. H beam rods w/ rod bolt upgrade.on cranks will a cast steel.crank suffice or do I need a 4340 crank will be haveing a.250 shot on it with 4150 demon 1000 cfm Carb.
I wantto know..with the nos if I need the 4340 crank.

Shocked W0W,thats alot of ?'s . I will give you my opinion on one then let some more chime in on the others.First of all IF you want to stay w/stock oem valve placement pistons,I think your better head would be the TFS (I think it's the 4th down on Charlies list). It also has the same EXH header flange as the oval Ford. The SCJ head will require a different piston OR cut some valve reliefs for the INT. on your flat tops.

I built an 11:1 523 that ran on 93 octane with a mild solid roller and went 10.51@129.29 in a 3550lb truck but I bought a complete rotating assembly from Coast High Performance and used TFS Powerport 290's out of the box with upgraded spring package. It seems the general consensus is that the SCJ has a better flow than the TFS heads. I would run the 4500 flange TFS intake with those heads and a 1050 or 1150. I ran the small port heads so I ran the 4150 flange TFS intake, looking back though I wish I had just sprung for the 4500 intake and a dominator.

My rotating assembly consisted of a 4340 Scat crank and 4340 Scat H-beam rods with Probe forged pistons. For the relatively small price difference I would suggest using the 4340 stuff over cast.

As far as budget expect to spend ~$10,000+ Wink Been there!

An SCJ head does NOT require different valve notches when a near stock OEM size camshaft is to be used. With a "pretty good sized hydraulic roller cam", (he must not be totally concerned with power output), new notches would probably be necessary.
The exhaust ports of the TFS heads are raised .280" at the flange from the OEM position.

I would buy the Edelbrock CJ heads.
