School me on BBF cyl. heads!!
Im specifically wanting to know exactly what a "B460 Bastard Pro Stock" head is!!
How does it compare to a "C" head as far as flow and power potential??
Also, Blue Thunder "Thor" heads....are they the top of the non-hemi food chain, or are "C" heads better??
Any pics of all these heads available somewhere??

Well... A bastard prostock head is a series of about 12 different generations of heads built by Rick Smith of TFS fame in the late 80's and early 90's. They where never widely available or mass produced. Some worked very well others where experiments.
Profiler heads are a version of C460 heads built by a company called profiler. They are a good head for bigger inch engines say 600" and up

With the introduction of the AFR heads (and matching intake), I wonder where they fit in on the list. Maybe its time for a revision of the list??
I also see there are "Thor Gen II" heads out now...better than the 1st gen, I would guess.

Re: School me on BBF cyl. heads!!
The AFR stuff appears to fit in line with the Ford racing SCJs and the Kaase P-51s.
But as of yet they do not appear to be widely avaliable to my knowledge

Re: School me on BBF cyl. heads!!
I always wondered what a set of max effort / full race factory iron CJ's with the exhaust ports milled off and replaced with the high port plates would flow.
I see these midwest truck pulls with their big blocks screaming at the 10,000 RPM zone for 30+ seconds, and wonder how a BBF would do with heads like that. I know some classes have rules that mandate factory produced heads, but any mods are allowed...I think!!

They hold their own in the stock iron head classes.

The "B460" and "bastard pro stock heads" are not the same things.
The B460 was available as a mass produced head from Ford Motorsport back in the 90's.

Correct me if Im wrong, but were'nt the B460 heads just like the "A" heads but with smaller ports?? Did'nt they make em with much more "meat" around the port walls to accommodate custom porting by the cyl. head specialist??
Or were the ports raised or different from the "A" heads??

You are partially correct here; the exhaust ports on both heads were the same. Ford Motorsport also offered a smaller port manifold to match those heads if you wanted those high velocity intake ports.

Has anyone seen any pics of the new C&C Motorsports "Pro-18" BBF heads yet??

One more time ... That "B460" is NOT the bastard pro-stock head.
With the bastard pro-stock heads there are not more than 4 sets ever which were the same.
Personally, if just horsepower is your main criteria, then I would get the "Profiler 205's".
The "Thor's" are no longer available at this time.
Re: School me on BBF cyl. heads!!
Well, C and C Motorsports has an ad in the "Fastest Street Car Magazine" that says "New for 2016, PRO-18 Big Block Ford Wedge Head".windsor wrote:BBFTorino wrote:Has anyone seen any pics of the new C&C Motorsports "Pro-18" BBF heads yet??
But their website has no info or pics on it.
Just wondering exactly what it is!!

Has anyone called on these heads? Wonder if I simply missed them at PRI this year.

The pro-18 is suppose to be a replica of a thor gen 2, not completely sure if it's gonna look exactly the same but it will except all hardware, manifolding, etc., I believe c&c is producing a cast one piece intake also

Randy, some of the Rick Smith Pro Stock heads had the B-460 logo and approved back in the day by Ford and NHRA for Pro Stock. The smaller CSA Pontiac looking spread port ones I had were like that.
