Head Gasket Issue

Have Cometic head gaskets , rivets hitting deck surface , instruction sheet states all rivets must clear deck and head surface . A460 block , P51 heads . Lem , Charlie , Randy , Rich , Jon , those of you using them advise please .

Just drill the rivets out.....aint no big deal.

Given where the rivets are it may not matter any way.

I clearanced the block with a stone in a dremel tool....... easy deal

Like Lem said, drill the rivets out. If you still want to hold the layers together, you can use plastic tie wraps in those same holes, and the plastic is compressable,

I have the A460 block, P51s, and cometic gaskets, and I didn't have to do any of that---it looked to me the rivets cleared everything.........wonder if I missed something

They cleared my IUD block too, I mean IDT block

Thanks guys . Jon I had wonderd if you had done that . Paul I noticed they contact the block at the upper bolt holes for the 18 head bolt deal and at the outer edge of the deck .

Have you got A-460 heads and 10 bolt gaskets? It's not a problem with the P-51 heads that Paul has.
