you guys ever hear of using used motor oil for undercoating ??
have an 02 f350 and it clean underneath ...was told by an "oldtimer" that they used to use a spray gun with used motor oil on the underneth of the cars n trucks in "newengland" and they would dirty underneth but wouldnt rust ???
said it gets in all the areas were reg undercoating doesnt ??
any truth to this ??

I dont know about doing it on purpose but our old farm trucks leak bad and there is no rust. LOL

I remember my first X father-in-law used to swear by linseed oil. He coated just about everything with it, including his truck bed, never rusted or leaked

I'd guess he was using raw linseed oil. The boiled stuff would probably dry out pretty quick.

Used motor oil is probably one of the best things to use just very messy.I know there's a place about a 1/2 hour away from me in Brimfield,Ohio that undercoats cars with used oil.

Used motor oil is probably one of the best things to use just very messy.I know there's a place about a 1/2 hour away from me in Brimfield,Ohio that undercoats cars with used oil.

I was gonna say the same thing... Here in Michigan, guy's SWEAR by old used motor oil, yes messy! but works great.

except on all the plastic lines, wire coatings, and of course rubber bushings. They turn to goo when exposed to too much motor oil.
We get em in every once in a while, seems like its a big thing in Western Canada or something. Bottom of the car coverd in oil. I believe its done at the begining of winter, and after a good under car wash come late spring, most is gone.

I had a buddy I worked with with family in Mexico. Said his family had been doing it for years, and when he went to visit he'd do it to his vehicles. I never saw his vehicle, he said they wouldn't rust.
