I remember my first X father-in-law used to swear by linseed oil. He coated just about everything with it, including his truck bed, never rusted or leaked Smile

I'd guess he was using raw linseed oil. The boiled stuff would probably dry out pretty quick.

Used motor oil is probably one of the best things to use just very messy.I know there's a place about a 1/2 hour away from me in Brimfield,Ohio that undercoats cars with used oil.

Later Mark.

except on all the plastic lines, wire coatings, and of course rubber bushings. They turn to goo when exposed to too much motor oil.

We get em in every once in a while, seems like its a big thing in Western Canada or something. Bottom of the car coverd in oil. I believe its done at the begining of winter, and after a good under car wash come late spring, most is gone.

I had a buddy I worked with with family in Mexico. Said his family had been doing it for years, and when he went to visit he'd do it to his vehicles. I never saw his vehicle, he said they wouldn't rust.
