2 pump gas combos
What would be the pro's vs. con's of these two basic combos?
1. 466 with flat top piston, zero decked, and D3 heads
2. 466 with 22cc dish at stock deck height and DOVE heads
I believe with the correct cam choice, either of these would be pump gas friendly. Assume all other parts are the same and each head flows 310/190.
Would there be any basic advantages for one over the other?
Thanks,
Jon

Sorry about that... Mainly street use and some 4x4 competitions. New rule for stock iron is pumpgas as well, so, I'm looking to detune the combo a little. Running the zero decked flat-top with DOVE combo right now.

A zero deck D3 head -3cc flat top single valve relief piston will have the same compression as a zero deck Dove head with a 19cc dish top, about 10.1 :1 comp. So I would just do what ever cost the least.
Now see if this smells better................

Don't get this. Bigger chamber head and a dished piston will have the same compression as a flat top with smaller chambers? Did you mean a 19cc DOME?

Guess only real advantages to the D3VE is it uses a 14mm spark plug and more cores out there, other than that like Blake said which ever is cheaper given what you have already.

Re: 2 pump gas combos
I guess what I was getting at was: Is there an advantage to run the flat top or the dish from an efficiency stand point?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: 2 pump gas combos
All else being equal don't think it will much matter. Ign. curve and total timing may be slightly different, but that is about it. If I was looking to possibly upgrade to another head in the future that would be a consideration. Seems to be more "good" heads in the 72 - 75cc range.
