L&L vs. solid mounts Empty L&L vs. solid mounts

Post  sandvipr January 20th 2013, 9:33 am

I'm in the middle of a 514 build for my '78 Bronco. The strength of the L&L mounts currently in there came up. It would take me a couple hours to fab up some solid mounts with the identical dimentions, but is that necessary?

Has anyone broken L&L's and what kind of HP were you running?

I've had 1 set and put about 400hp/500tq past them and they held fine.

I have broke a few years ago and believe the quality has been improved. I am going on year # 8 with my current set. 550/580 for the last three years.

i did the same as you years ago, had a tool & die friend build me a set from billet chunks, drilled a hole w/countersink, and ran a bolt through it. works great for around 7-8 yrs of use. A friend just built a Bronco recently, I believe he used a solid set from Trans-Dapt. Nice pieces for reasonable.

Truck was at around 500 hp, It pulled apart in a pull off, L&L Said they would replace it (1-time only) And they did!
I still run them, with out another issue.

I ran the L&L's in mine for a while w/o any problem. BUT,......I had an engine limiter (aka turnbuckle) that might have kept me from having any issues with them.

If I was to buy another set of mounts, I would probably go with a set of these,....

^^^ those are nice. Pretty much exactly what I was going to make. I think I'll keep the L&L's and keep an eye on them. I can work on the mounts and swap them out next winter if they make it through the summer.
