excellent! the new convertor should help alot. My car also weighs 3500 lbs.best i went with a 521/c4 combo 3500 convertor, went 10.64 spinning at 122 mph first pass no tuning.(had bearing failure) It was a Ford 521 crate engine,647 cam,BT intake pair of 660's. I changed cam..thanks Lem, Victor and a domi for this year.

Cool.
Sounds like a similar combo to mine. Are you bringing it to the Bash?

My ride has Fox body coil over struts, caster camber plates, Aerospace brakes and a rack. Is your 64 stock front suspension?

Mine has some a-arms off of an original Thunderbolt that were stored in my dads garage attic since the 60's. We lowered the upper a-arm mounting point about 1 1/2" to help out the geometry and installed Granada spindles and brakes. Otherwise its pretty much stock up front. We have been considering doing exactly what you did with fox struts because most of the header clearance issues are around the upper a-arms and steering box. I also have issues with the upper a-arms sliding in from wheelies. Did you keep your shock towers and mount the struts to them or cut them all the way out? I'd love to see some pics if you have them.

I will take some picture tomorrow. I have the Crites shock tower kit installed, which means I kept the towers. I welded in a plate to fill the hole in where the shock passed through. Installed the CC plates, made some custom lowers, rack x-member,etc. I am moving the rack forward to where it was with the 428 windsor. my plans are to use an engine & mid plate this time around. My headers are Foxbody Hooker 2' swaps. I have about 15 hours in making them work.....I was really thinking about going with the Mustang 2 front but i am undecided!

I have another 65 hardtop that i am working on. Granada spindles and brakes. question... did you have to modify(cut) your strut rods? when I got to turn the wheel, The spindle hits the factory stop on the strut rods.

Sounds good.
That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. We were thinking about keeping the stock lower a-arms and changing the ball joint to a screw in Mustang. I run a motor plate in the front and some plates bolted to the back of my heads that run down to the frame as a mid plate. I'd like to run a rack but I think it will be a tight fit to clear the front sump pan. I've seen some people run a rack right in front of the pan under the balancer but it is really tight. Also, I think the rack might interfere with the strut rods. I was considering using some tubular Fox Mustang lowers but I'm not sure the mounting points would work with the stock frame rails. Luckily my Dad builds chassis and headers so we could really do whatever we can dream up I just don't really want to destroy the "stock" look of the car. With the shock towers its a bitch to work on and installing the headers takes a while but I like the Super Stock look of the car. Can't wait to see your pics. Thanks.

I didn't have to modify my strut rods. I never noticed them hitting anything. I'm assuming they didn't change anything in 65 but I'm not sure about that. My car actually started as a 63 but I think all of the suspension was the same as 64.

we share the same front suspension parts. I can turn the wheels one direction but not the other. We made some brackets for the lower just like an aftermarket M2 front cross member, wide lowers to eliminate the strut rods. and yes. it was tight to the pan and balancer with the SBF. the BBf i used a Moroso Eliminator pan and moved the rack back...worked great till you go to back up, the wheels would toe in drastically. thats why i am moving it to the front again....you will see with my pics what i am talking about. I did the front conversion about 7 years ago, before FatMan Fabrication had their kit and they perfected it..but damn way to expensive and RRS just the same. I was thinking about using Foxbody lowers also, just need to change my lower mounts.
