Alky carb setup....
Got this 850 alky carb here. Tore into it and I noticed its got 92-94 jets in it and 0.120 orifices drilled directly above the jets.. Now that seems like an awful lot of fuel for a 850. I figured out the area of the jets, power valve restrictions, and the orifices drilled directly above the jets. I then figured out the area of all the orifices on my Gaerte 750 alky carb which has similar holes drilled directly above the jets also. My Gaerte carb's orifices are only 0.060 directly above the jets though. So after comparing the two even though the 850 is roughly 12% bigger its has roughly 32% more orifice area for fuel to flow. So my question is this carb setup way wrong or no? Does anybody have 850 alky carb setup similar to this one? Im wondering someone enlarged the orifices above the jets on this one or are they suppost to be this big?thanks

I had a carb done like that once. Same deal, secondhand, didn't know who modified it but it ran OK.
