460 Oil filter?
Hey guys, thought Id throw this out there, I just picked up a 460(D9) that was in a early 80's truck. as i was looking it over I realized that there is a flange where the oil filter is supposed to screw in, there are two post coming off of it and both have female threads. It almost looks like a external oil cooler was hooked up to it. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Re: 460 Oil filter?
There are several different types of adapters used for either relocating the oil filter or adding a cooler (or both). My 97 460 F-250 came with such a setup. A regular filter won't fit between the block and the frame rail.

Re: 460 Oil filter?
If you don't want to run a oil cooler or remote filter you can unsrew the part on the engine some just srew on like the filter then srew the filter on and some has a bolt thru it.If it has the bolt tru it you can go to the local ford dealer and get the insert that goes in the block for a oil filter but you will have to remove the one in it now.I can't remember the part number but Lem can tell you the ford part number that who gave me the number for it.
