Big Block Ford Diaper
We are running a 514 in our '70 Mustang tube chasis car. Thinking about running a diaper so we can jump into a Supergas race or two next year. Does anyone run or recomend a certain brand of diaper or tray. Seems like it might be a pain to mount in the front and back, around the main seals. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I run a J&J from Jegs and it fits decent. Its NHRA approved but not SFI certified. I was running a huge rear sump last rear and it still fit like required, I upgraded oil pan this year so it should fit even better.

Re: Big Block Ford Diaper
I had a DRE diaper in my last dragster with a Moroso 20614 box chassis pan.
It was not a custom, just one of their universal "sportsman" diapers. 4 sizes. Mine was an xl.
Fit was fine. Easy on/off. Loosen and drop one end for access to the oil drain plug.

DRE for sure. Dennis is the only guy that battles some of the ridiculous SFI requirements. The rest of them use it to sell their products.

I think only the pro cars are required to have an SFI diaper.

Be sure to thank Dennis for supporting racers. He is the only reason we can run non SFI diapers.

Re: Big Block Ford Diaper
Thanks, I'm under that. They haven't said anything yet. I've only seen them on a few cars and they were in the 6's in the quarter. I'll look into getting one for safety though.bigblok2000ranger wrote:70FB wrote:What John said^^^^^John Myrick wrote:At what ET or speed is a SFI diaper mandated ?

Re: Big Block Ford Diaper
My wet sump front sump 514 uses a DRE off the shelf diaper.
DRe made a nice custom one for the dry sump 605/618 pan.
I don't like diapers from an appearance perspective, but...
When the 605 broke a wrist pin, the diaper held all of the oil and coolant.
DRE for me. Dennis is a racer..

Re: Big Block Ford Diaper
Keith did the front sump diaper fit prettty tightly to the pan? I will probably need to get one this year but as tight as my headers are I'm concerned about fitting one. I have a stock pan that we extended down about 2". My 2 rear header pipes criss cross under the rear portion of the pan. I got yelled at up at Indy last year for not having one even though technically I wasn't fast enough to require it (and I pulled off the track before the oil really started pouring out).
