Ford 430 Big Block
Hi team,
I am currently in the middle of doing up a 65 Lincoln Convertible
The thing i am having most trouble with is the engine
After doing a bit of research these engines look very rear and there are not many after market parts available for them
I want to keep the car original and would like to keep the same engine in it, it is in running order, but i would like to do it up to get more horsepower etc, what would be my best bet either sources parts or stroker kit? and who could i purchase from to execute
Any information would be much appreciated
Regards Grant

I'd pull the distributor and tweek it for a quicker advance. It wouldn't alter the stock appearance and improve the seat of the pants feel.

Re: Ford 430 Big Block
You could stroke the factory crank and use some other rods and custom pistons, but its not going to be cheap.
I'd put a performance cam in it with some supporting valve train components, True 2 1/2" perfromance dual exhaust and some 3.50:1 to 3.91:1 gears.
May also consider some kind of carb swap to get a little more CFM in it along with the suggested distributor tune.

I'm sure those heads would benefit from a little grind and shine, too.

In the '60's, my mother had a Continental with a 430. Down low, enough torque to reverse the earth's rotation but wouldn't rev worth a flip. I suspect it will need to breathe much better...both in and out.

Yeah, they are purty, but hoo-boy...they have a lot of gravity on 'em.
