Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
I see a lot of guys pulling their rides back to the pits. Just wondering if it would be worth buying a pull rig . Looks like it would a good idea to tow it back ...

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
I do it to get a clean read on the plugs when I make tuneup changes. Saves a lot on that high dollar fuel also.
I started doing mainly when we run outlaw as everyone else does and I would always get stuck behind um anyway.

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
we used to drive everywhere but like Jon says you get stuck behind people. it does make plug reading easier. we will tow everywhere this go round with our car. I've become a huge fan of it since we've been tuning others rides.
I guess I should say, we will push with the golf cart everywhere. easier to control around some of the track "idiots". you know the ones that rule the place and think speed limit rules dont apply to them.

I dont mind the 4 wheelers but some of those guys fly through the pits like they're on a motocross track! Golf cart is more my speed plus they wont let a 4 wheeler on the golf course.

Simplifies things so much already figured it into the racing budget for this year. The less heat I can put into the drivetrain before a pass the better.

Looks like i need to weld a d-ring on the front of ol Fatso. The bumpers are to flimsy to be pushing on.

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
yep. I can fab you up a neat little spring loaded pull ring to hook to the tow rig so when the strap gets slack it dont throw the riders off when it tightens up.......

Pull it. Gives the wp and fans get a head start cooling things down so when you get back to the pit you can get started without burning the crap outta yourself.
Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
Pushing the car is better than pulling IMO. You don't have to worry about running over the tow strap slack, or worry about strap slack/yank tearing up the front of the car when pushing it.

Good call...Looks like it would tear the bumper off or at least damage it.....

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
Ive seen a couple set ups and have an idea how to build one, just have not done it yet. It might be a little safer w a cart though, Id hate for the wheeler to get crossed up and drag the thing over and hurt someone.
