i've saw a lot of truck pullers use that setup.the heavy frontend makes it hard to guide.bruno wrote:https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=101159596636445&set=a.100926249993113.1542.100411350044603&type=1&theater

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
No pics but the one that I was going to build for a friend's car was just going to be the normal/simple design a lot of peole use. Just 'moly tubing with rod-ends at both ends, a bolted/pined double shear bracket/clevis on the front of the push vehicle, and a pined double shear bracket/clevis built into the 'chute tether mount. What haden't been decided yet was if the push bar should be just made of only one size/one piece of tubing, or telescoped smaller on each end with smaller & smaller tubing.jbozzelle wrote:For you guys that push post up some pics of your setup

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
I drive mine, lots less trouble all the way around .jmo
I have a friend that has friends and family to push his car in the LONG staging lanes so he don't get it to hot.THEN he sets and lets it run for five minutes at the front of the lanes to get heat in it before the run while his pushers get their breath. It's like wiping your butt before you take a poop, just don't make sense. "Keep it simple. It will be more fun for everyone"

I prefer to drive mine up at a small race, but like the HotRod reunion where there are 30,000 people wandering around and 500 or more race cars ,I like towing it up a lot better.

Gas. BUT,I'm on Meth now. I have a Electric solenoid on it now fo leanout. It will heat up quicker than on gas. (leanout is under carb plenum)

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
Drive mine back but needed a plug check also. I have friends at the track with 4 wheelers but would like to be independent sometimes. Put fresh plug in before the run with an old one and wrench in the car. Made the pass and let it coast to the last turn off out the way. Changed new plug for old and drove back to the pits.

I've been told the SE guys cars are set up so well that one guy can easily push it in the staging lanes...My old 65 Mustang eas way to hard to push by hand..

Grande pushes pretty easy, all REM treated bearings in the diff, along w roller bearing pinion suppt, and ring and pinion, no to little bearing preload, front wheel bearings are treated also. when the tranny comes apart it gets the same treatment.... theres lots a little tricks with the brakes etc.

Re: Drive it or Pull it back to the pits
Being that I only run on pump gas and it doesn't cost so darn much, I like to chop back to my spot in the pits feeling like the shit after I have a successful pass Besides, I have nothing to pull it with
