That was the leaf sprung chassis. The half ton was set up different.

The reason my bars are 50 inches long was when I talked to several chassis people the said if room allowed to have the ladder bar front mount at the approx. center of gravity(front to rear) for the vehicle. A 4x4 truck is naturally more nose heavy than a 2wd requiring a longer ladder bar. Also being a 4x4 mud truck it will typically sit higher making it difficult to get the bars to sit at the proper angle the longer bars helped with this. the 50 inch bars were custom ordered with larger tubes and heims than standard off the shelf bars I was finding at the time, they also had a few extra braces to keep them from bending. Not disagreeing just giving the information I used to order this setup.
