Post  alkymark8 April 30th 2013, 9:18 pm

What if anything can I do to this intake? it is a domi flange unit with a 4150 adaptor which the clover leaf sticks out into the air stream, is there any thing else I can do to help it? mind you this is not a big hp motor.

Thanks!

Run a dominator, they make more power.

Why would you say that Randy w/o knowing the application? When I put my first Dove headed 466 together years ago,the port0sonic was all we had. Later on I was able to pickup a victor.I port matched it and used the same carb. Didn't pickup one bit. So it really does depend on the app imo.

I agree, I use to have one and when I talk edelbrock to making the Victor the Portasonic was ancient then, unless it is a street car a Victor or TFS Mafia will work much better. These Engines like to breath

x2. Just because it may not be the latest and greatest doesn't mean it's now junk.

A 4500 carb is out of the question, motor is in a boat and only turns max 5500 rpm.

The rpm has little to do with the dominator making more power, it will make more all over.

But if you're hell bent on using that intake with a 4150 adapter, blend everything that mismatches with the adapter. It will work OK, but for a boat, under 5500 and using a 4150 you may be better served with a rpm intake.

I owned a 514 ci D0ve headed, Port o Sonic manifolded engine that pushed my Spitzer dragster into the low teens.. Based on the hp calculators, that was around 730hp.

They are not the latest and greatest, but, not a bad ole intake. The ole 466 w/one in the mav.w/D0ve's ran 9.96 at #2780 w/o fatass me in it.

It goes from idle to 5500 as fast as I can smash the throttle, a single plane works good. Thanks for all the info!

May want to look into a prop or impeller change?

Its got a b cut mpd impeller in it, for some reason this boat doesn't rpm, I have tried smaller imps and no dice.

Have a talk with Jet Boat Bob, LEm Evans or Paul Kane, they are all into the Jet boat thing alot more than me, they may be able to help figure out what you got going on.
