Ok first of all i haven't been here in a while. So let me start out by saying hello again. Anyways i have been running my truck after i did the engine swap and have about 800 miles on it. The oil pressure at idle in gear seems to jump from 50 to 55 psi it never really stays steady. And when i drive it it spikes up to 75 psi is this normal?. Maybe i'm just paranoid and don't know what a 429 big block is supposed to run at for oil psi?. Could my gauge be off?. I have a aftermarket autometer oil psi gauge. And as for temperature it stays between 195 and 210 never runs hotter than 210. It also seems that when it gets to 210 the gauge drops back down to the 200 mark almost imidiatly after. Is that the normal operating temperature for a 429?. Just concerned but other than that its been running like a top. I'm really really happy with this engine so far has 3 times the power of that old smog 351m junker it had before.

I'm running vavoline 20w 50 vr1 racing oil with the zinc additive for the flat tappet cam and a bottle of lucas oil stabilizer. It has a high volume melling oil pump in it standard pressure. But it seems that it has been leaking a little bit of oil just a really slow drip. Looks like its comming from were the dipstick goes into the oil pan?. I think there's a o ring thats supposed to go in there could the o ring be bad?. It doesn't help i don't have the correct dipstick so i can't check the oil level and can't find the correct dipstick at the dealer. But i am running 5 quarts of the vr1 with the quart of lucas so 6 quarts total.

Run some thiner oil, your just wasting power and stressing the oil pump shaft for nothing.

Try some 10w40
