Re: Putting new rods in a engine?
When I do it I check the bolt first loose, zero the dial, torque to the regular setting then check bolt. If it has not reached full stretch I add 5 or 10 to the torque until it does.

Re: Putting new rods in a engine?
I put rods in a vice with the bearing in and zero the dial with the bolt loose then torque 70ft/lb.Dail showed .0050 not .0062 so your saying i need to torque 5 or 10 more ft/lb until i reach .0062? thanks

So 70ftl/b just a starting point then the stretch gage is used to proper setting for each rod?
