A-Headed 528" pump gas: 843 hp 700 lbs ft
Started playing with this last year had local friend, engine builder, James Bostick build this for me.
Dove A block .060 over ( aftermarket 4 bolt kit, block from Paul Kane)
521" FRPP kit 4.30" stoke, Eagle rods, replaced SRP pistons with JE's to work with A-460 heads 82cc chamber
'93 A-460 heads 2.3 intake heads flow 420 cfm at .750
Schneider solid roller: @ .050" 276-284 ( adv. 306-312) lobe lift .430int - .435ex, lobe sep 112
gross lift .744int .752 ex
I bought the FRPP 521" rotating kit from Lem Evans, along with the Danny Bee from Lem. ( thanks)
we ended up at 11.25:1 compression to run 91 octane
Final results: 1,200 Dominator ... a day at Westec ( Thanks Steve)
we started with 28* for the 91 octane. Steve ran it to 6,000 after looking at the numbers we bumped it to 30* ran it 6,000 reviewed it then bumped it to 32* and made another 6,000 rpm pass. We decided to leave it at 32* never made another timing bump.
ran it with a 950 ultra HP to see what it would do, lost 40hp: look what happened to the manifold vac ...
comparison chart: of two carbs
Before we put the 950 Ultra HP on we ran a back to back run Valvoline VR-1 20/50 vs Mobil 1 10/30 synthetic. Picked up 10 lbs ft at peak trq ( 5,100) and 10hp at peak power 6,900.
it made 833 with 20/50 and 843 with the Mobil 1. Change to lighter oil cost 6-7 psi across the rpm range.
video results: click on to watch
In our future: we are going back in a couple of months or so
it just might get interesting ....
We will run a set of 1,050's on it to just to see what will happen.

Being that this is a bad fast lake/river jetboat rather than a all out drag boat I'd think a 110* LSA would be 'meaner' with the size impeller I would run in that application.

thanks.. I'm happy with it, I am wondering what the new "tall" TFS single would be worth on it ?
Not sure the video link worked it stopped working on my computer, is it still working ?
I'll repost it:

My 528 had a little better heads 465 cfm @ 800, slightly more cam and the new TFS intake and made 905hp @ 7100 rpm a few years back.

It was about 12:1 ran on race fuel, never tried it on pump gas, probably would have ran fine seeing that the cam was pretty big.

Nice be really interested to see what predators run like. I'm running a single predator at the moment but have another if I decide to go that way or might just get a 1050 dominator. having said that my motor nowhere near as strong as yours. Interesting on the oil as well, do you not worry about the lack of zddp in the mobil or do you use an additive?

How much power is your Predator supporting ? How does it run?
The oil will get some Lucas additive or I might switch to the Mobil 1 20/50 V-Twinn oil for Harley's it still has lots of the "good stuff" in it.

For now I'll just drop some of the Lucas oil treatment in it:
In the future I'll run one of these types at oil change time. They are proud of it I'll tell you that.

Re: A-Headed 528" pump gas: 843 hp 700 lbs ft
Should have said I have run the predator on the street for about 2 years on a dual plane with 2" spacer but am going to a Victor this year, I have had no problems at all. Don't know how much you know about them, but I have found the following it is critical that the thin rubber on top of the top flaps lays nice and flat, and when tuning an 1/8 of a turn on the mixture screw is alot and always take the backlash out Another thing I have done is made a simple baffle for the float bowl as they can suffer with fuel slosh on cornering dependant on which way they are mounted.
Thinking about your application running 2 it might be worth swapping out the spray bars for ones with smaller holes cos they do have a tendency to run rather rich.
I haven't tried it but there is an email address on their website under the contact tab, they may be able to help.
I think I said I may try a 1050 dominator at some point if I can find one for the right price or if a tunnel ram comes up I do have a second predator.

Looks like fun and a great combo. Wonder how it would run with E-85?G-Code wrote:Started playing with this last year had local friend, engine builder, James Bostick build this for me.

Is that too much cam for a street car(i.e. A/C, Power Brakes/Steering, etc.)

The Mobil 1 15w50 has a ton more zinc than the others. They also have a 0w30 and a 0w50 racing oil that's loaded...not sold in stores, find it online in cases of 6 and in drums.

Ever go back to see what the TR or newer TFS intake will do??
I'm piecing together a very similar build, little more lift, 2 more points of comp, and newer TFS head, Blake doing a light amount of work on them. I like what I see for the $ I have involved so far, and excited for results. Great build. 1800rpm between peaks is nice!

Saw that. Too bad I've got 95% of needed parts to assemble mine.
