My Build, .... What DO You Think?
Well after all the help from all you guys I have a combo for ya. I think it will be a pretty good setup for what I want. Any thoughs or suggestions are welcome.
D9 block preped and decked with oil mods
Scat 9000 4.5 stroke crankshaft
Scat 4340 I beam 6.7 rods
SRP Forged flatop pistons 3.90 bore
Weiand Tunnel Ram
{2} Holley 600 carbs
Built c-4 tranny
Stall 2,500 to 3,000 and size not yet decided, I will talk to PTC later.
2inch or 2 1/8inch headders
1.73 rocker arms
D3 heads with my port work with info from The Mad Porter [ thanks for the website Scotty ]
Shaved a little to make good and flat
5 angle valve job, 2.19 intake, 1.8 exhaust
Lunati Vodoo solid cam, specs are ........
Adv duration .050 lift 110 lobe sept.
Intake 282 Exhaust 299 Intake 249 Exhaust 257 106 center line
Lift: .623 Intake, .649 Exhaust .014 valve adjustment 2,800-7,000 rpms
I can go up one size or down but this looks good. All the fox setup stuff. Max rpm's of 6,000 to 6,500 depends on how far it pulls.

Hey, Bullitt:
It looks like nobody want's to talk to you, so I will take a shot - the worst that can happen is I will incite everybody else to get in line to tell me that I'm wrong (LOL)! I just finished building a 545 stroker motor for my 50 Ford. A couple of things I would do differently is (1) I would use a 6.8 rod instead of the 6.7 - this will keep a little bit more of the piston in the bore at BDC. Yes, the D9TE block has longer cylinders, but we're talking thousandths - I'm using a D0VE-A block, so the 6.8 rod was a "no brainer". (2) I think you're going to leave something on the table with your cam choice, I'm running a .718 lift mechanical roller in my 545, and the engine seems to love it! It looks like you're on the right path with your build, now maybe somebody else will chime in with their .2 worth. Good luck with it.

I still think you should save up a little more money and go with the forged crank. One other thing is as Wayne said, you might be a little short on cam. I would talk to Lem and get a good custom grind for this motor, and he knows more about what these motors like for cams than most of us. This is just a small price upgrade for both of these items, but well worth it.

I agree, for a few hundred more dollars you would have both peace of mind and better performance. These big Ford engines like a lot of camshaft and your choice isn't it.I'm not saying an off the shelf cam won't work, but a custom grind will work a lot better for not much more money.

Re: My Build, .... What DO You Think?
I just built a 557 with a 4.5 steel crank and 6.7 rods in a DOVE block, it has not run yet. The piston does come out of the bottom of the cylinders a lot, will it cause me problems? This is a steet car with a solid roller, good to around 6000 rpm.

I must be the only one that can make power with stock stuff lol, Dove Block , Scat cast crank 4.30 H beam rods,
6.70 Srp Pistons, Eldebrock Victor heads ported 13.7 compression zero decked c&a zero gap rings, arp everything 2850 tube chassis mustang 5.60 in the 1/8 and 1.24 60 foot times consistently. crane gold race rockers jomar stud girdle, doug herbert cam 680 lift leave at 3400 shift at 6400 powerglide trans 33x15 mt 4.86 gear goes through about 7200rpm.
350 passes so far just changing the oil and checking the valves
