It might be an option for my 10 sec ranger build.
The manufacturer specs list mig welding as ok. I haven't looked into what the NHRA requires for welding.

I'd still TIG it. The manufacturer says it can be MIG welded but the SFI book says it has to use the same practices as CM tubing which is TIG.

I was afraid of that! I can TIG weld but don't have one in the shop.whatbumper wrote:I'd still TIG it. The manufacturer says it can be MIG welded but the SFI book says it has to use the same practices as CM tubing which is TIG.
I have a buddy who I need to ask about a rent/loan on a TIG welder or I will have to use ERW or DOM.
This week I should have a quote for 120ft of Docol 1 5/8" tube.
FWIW its's .622lbs per ft lighter than DOM

I got a quote from the supplier today.
1.6250"x.083" Docol R8, 100ft purchase would be $4.51 a foot and is in stock.
I was also informed in the email that 4130 would be a little cheaper.
Now I need to secure the use of a TIG welder.
Can I do a 10pt cage in a ranger with 100-120ft of tubing?
I don't want to come up short since the supplier is 1 1/2 hrs away.

I could but I'm not sure how proficient you are with a bender. Just make sure to plan ahead and try not to waste any. The biggest mistake that people make is bending wrong.
