Mustang frame rail width?

I know this sound like an odd question.....

But I'm building a 57 Chevy truck and dropping a 501 inch 385 in it. I looking for headers for it and wondering of something off of a mustang swap would fit. The truck is getting a Mustang II kit up front with coil overs. I have 29-30 inches between the frame rails. I was wondering what the mustangs have for this dimension.

Everyone drops a Chevy in a Ford, but after doing a search on the web where you can find almost anything....I find nothing of a Ford going into a 57 Chevy truck. Although I did find a picture of a flathead Ford in a 68 Camaro. Sweet!

Any help would be welcomed.

Kinda narrow it down, what year(s) mustang are you asking about, 64-74 75-81 81-95, 95-2010, 2010 and up?

you may consider a ford truck header.i've tried mustang headers in a truck and they're not "tall enough". the colectors hit the cab floor becouse the engine set higher in the truck.

Wish I could Kim, but the more information the better. Since they are different widths, one year might workout better.
Which was the widest year would work I guess....

Thank Cool40. That helps. I had no idea that would be a concern.
CPR make a neat big tube header for a 79-95 Mustang or so I discovered. Just have no idea on rail widths. Looks like floors would not be an issue.
Like to get an idea before I make some uneducated calls.

Try Sanderson Headers they have headers for a 385 in a 50's Ford pick up that could work in a Chevy. They aren't long tube headers more like a shorty or mid-length. Hope this helps.

I'll measure my 87 when I get home, I have hooker super comp LT's on my 468.

31.5" for an 83 inside to inside

27.5 on my 69 & 70...inside to inside
