Lifter bores
I tore a motor down only to find the lifter bores were bushed but only on the right side. Is this some kind of mod or do I have a worn block?
Thanks in advance,
Geno

Re: Lifter bores
It's done to control the oil to the top end.

Thanks jbozzelle and Mr. Evans. Good to know I don't have to buy another block yet.
Thanks again,

Re: Lifter bores
Bushing the passenger side lifter bores only is done to direct more oil to the mains. It also can restrict the oiling to the top end on that side depending on the size of the hole drilled in the bushing. Worth noting if you want to restrict oil to the drivers side you need to put a restrictor in the cross over.
If both sides are bushed usually means in addition to oiling that they wanted to correct the size and true the lifter bores.
