Re: Ky @ Bowling Green today
Randy, I see where you went to a spragless TC. Were you breaking the sprag deal often? Did you slow down with the spragless? I have a friend with a 1991 GMC Syclone truck with a twin-turbo 311" V6. It has a PG and we have been sneaking up on the boost and this weekend, we broke the sprag in it. The truck has 8 passes on it. This truck should run 4.80's @ 3000 lbs when we get it to full boost. Right now we are at 21 lbs and have run 5.25 @ 132. I know David Cole has had some trouble with the sprag and I may as well. I need to make a decision if I want to get a spragless right off the bat or not.
Thanks,
David

I wouldn't fool with adding the nitro............and i know that was on the old motor not this one. The M5 is a "safe" way to get some extra pop from the fuel.

Re: Ky @ Bowling Green today
I broke/hurt the sprag several times in my old hardtail car with both BTE and PTC converters. With the American car I went to a spragless. Great move. No more problems and it works great. Mine is a Hughes 9" GM96 016scn1.David Willingham wrote:. I know David Cole has had some trouble with the sprag and I may as well. Re: Ky @ Bowling Green today
That was the first problem I had had with the converter. It was 8 years old and it was originally built for a 466 with dove c heads. It also had an aluminum stator so I can't complain about it breaking. They said the burnouts are what breaks the sprags.
I can't tell any difference in et , the car duplicated the run made 2 passes before the converter broke , but it had the shorter goodyear tires on it before so its not exactly an apple to apples comparison. I would just go spragless right from the get go , I have not talked to anyone that has changed and noticed a big difference.

I went from a 8" convertor to a 9" spragless .The only difference it made was dropping the RPM 800 RPM in the traps. Now I can run 1/4 mile with the same gear.

NICE run Randy, especially the long air
David, Spragless would be a good idea with your application.

Well, it turns out my buddy had a PTC spragless TC. He took the trans out today and found a broken stator support on his Rossler PG.

That's the first thing they asked me to check when I though I was having converter issues.

That's really haulin' the mail there, good show.. What are you using for a safety timer? I need something like that.
Re: Ky @ Bowling Green today
Thank's Doug , its a feature built into the delay box you , can set how many seconds you want for safety . I can't think of a good way to do it without a delay box unless you wired it to use 2 buttons to arm the transbrake ?

Bruno,
It's so you don't accidently re-engage the trans-brake during a run or a pass.

Re: Ky @ Bowling Green today
Bruno ,the safety timer is for after you leave the line in low gear, if you bump the t-brake button accidently it can't apply the brake for x amount of seconds. It gets real ugly when you see somebody hit the t-brake button right before the shift, then it locks the t-brake at 60 MPH. I used to use mine ,but after having the issue Randy did , I either use mine with hardly any time in it or nothing at all. I want to be able to rekey the button if needed in the stage lights.

Re: Ky @ Bowling Green today
I don't know if thy still make it, but you used to be able to buy a stand alone transbrake lockout for the guys that didn't run a delay box. It was made by either Dedenbear or Biondo, Just a small box with an adjustable timing that prevent the transbrake from working for X amount of time.
All of the newer digital delay boxes have them built in. I've got mine set for 3 seconds. By then I'm already in high gear and my transbrake doesn't work in high.
