Either one is a great foundation, and will do what ever you need. The Eliminator is a little more money, and you may have to wait on availability. The A460 is almost always ready to ship.

The eliminator blocks do offer a lot of nice options and billet caps on some models, but they are more expensive and typically can have a long wait to get one.
The a460 blocks are plenty good too.

depends on your final build . you want roller cam bearings? extra cost for the A460 block for one example

Finding a ring pack above 4.650 bore is going to be expensive, and most A and Elim blocks will go that far.

Re: a460 v/s Eliminator premier block
The max safe bore on an a460 is 4.600, but most will go over that.
As far as eliminator blocks it depends on the model, they offer some that are not good for more than 4.500 and some that can go to 4.700

Stock blocks will not go safely to 1000hp they are a bomb fuse at that level
The stock blocks and an a460 block are not alike. The a460 stuff is much thicker and heavier.

IF your friend has them in stock, then it should have been an easy choice...

What kind of use did that 302 see?
If that was a documented 650 hp in a stock 302 block, I'd have expected it to split in two on the second dyno pull.

Re: a460 v/s Eliminator premier block
Nah... 640hp on a daily streeted 302. It lasted about 3 years. Didn't split in 2, blew a cylinder apart, cracked vertically bottom to top at the 4 corners. 69 block.... Most of the time it was street driven and only run up to about 5k At the track on slicks it did 5k clutch drops and shifted about 7500RPM. Now the T5... that didn't fare so well.

Most drag and a friend had a 9.40 302 for 3 years and still doing great so that's y I'm sure a 460 will do 1000 with no problem
