THanks!
I got a new intake today. New meaning new to me. Its a Hogan's intake, and the runners are much shorter vs the original one I got with the cylinder heads. It came off of a 638 and the guy said it liked 6000-8200, which is what I need for my build.

Getting the final small parts for this one. Thanks to Keith Fulp for helping me get some replacement parts for my Danny Bee belt drive. Should have some great updates soon. Added a few pics to post #1.

Re: 598 cid Profiler 205 head
Do you have any numbers to share yet? I'm curious as I have a very similar motor that I will be putting on the dyno within a few weeks. Will be interesting for me to have a motor like this to compare to. Ran a few test passes with mine last year but was still in the process of tuning before our racing season ended.
Nice car by the way, very cool combo.

Re: 598 cid Profiler 205 head
I will definitely post up the dyno sheets and a lot more info when the time comes.
Here are the basic cam specs:
Intake 288 @ .050 -- lift .945 (1.80 rocker ratio)
Exhaust 306 @ .050 -- lift .925 (1.80 rocker ratio)
118 LSA
Was considering aluminum rod but ended up going with Oliver steel rods. Almost there---all though its been on the back burner since I missed the 2014 SCSN. But it will be out soon.
Here are the flow numbers. The valve job we went with sacrificed top lift flow numbers but increased the mid lift numbers nicely. I am not sure what the "range" numbers signify.

Re: 598 cid Profiler 205 head
Ok this is finally coming together now. Since I missed the SCSN in 2014, I put this on the back burner while buying a new home, got back into guns, photography, hiking, etc. But now I have the racing bug again so.......
Right now just waiting on head studs for the "C" style 18 bolt head. Kaase has them on back order from ARP. Anyone know where I could get something that would work? Other than that, short block done, bushings installed in lifter bore for "keyway" lifters--as in there are no bars between each pair of lifters. Instead there is grove in each bushing that lines up with a pin on the lifter to keep it from rotating. I will also have to go with a belt driven distributor on that front mount because of the manifold.
On the intake manifold, having a new spacer being made (between the bottom and top pieces) to an inch tall to increase the plenum a little. Will also be running water lines to each side of each head. Also need to set up the oil lines and make brackets for the external oil pump. Hopefully this will see the dyno sometime in February.
^^^wrong head gasket I know.
Picture of one of the Oliver Rods:
Valve springs with 400lbs on the seat, 1100 open. Titanium retainers, Jesel rockers.

Re: 598 cid Profiler 205 head
Almost there. I am having a spacer made for the manifold (to go between the base and the top) to increase plenum volume. A couple other odds/ends--should have dyno numbers by end of this month.
Re: 598 cid Profiler 205 head
Getting closer, hopefully will be on dyno next week. Will have the go pros video -- one hopefully right above the engine.

Re: 598 cid Profiler 205 head
Well had first shakedown pull after making sure everything was as it should be, this motor was already passing the peak power level of the old motor at only 5700 rpm......hahaha. We only pulled it to 7500rpm, we are going to do a couple adjustments plus add a plenum spacer and take it to 8000 rpm. I will post the final dyno numbers and have a video here in the next couple of days.

Re: 598 cid Profiler 205 head
Well we hit a little bump in the road. We don't like what the oil pressure was doing in the higher rpm ranges, so they are going to put .018 restrictors in -- plus send the brand new moroso oil pump back to get looked at. This motor has the Jesel keyway lifters in it, and there was another thread on here discussing if people were running those wide open or with restrictors. Well we are going to run restrictors.
Because of that we still have not made an 8000 rpm pull (why would we if we didn't like the oil pressure). So it looks like by the time the restrictors are put in and the pump comes back from Moroso it will be a week or two.
So far we are at 1144 @ 7500 rpm and we have 500 more rpm to go as well as adding the plenum spacer. I think it will be 2.0 hp / cubic inch when its done.
Honestly, based on what I have read, I am not seeing much of a difference between this head and the C460 head. However, to be fair, I got these heads from a guy where the exhaust ports were done with nitrous in mind, and this of course is an N/A application, so maybe it would have been different with a brand new set of heads. We are still not done yet so we will see. I will post the dyno sheet and video once its done.
On a positive note, this combo is absolutely killing the old combo in power, throughout the entire curve from 5,000 rpm up. At some points its 250+ hp above the old combo--and we are not done yet.

I will be there but not with the car. Once i put the engine in the headers still need to be made, so i will be there but only to watch.
