Re: New Toy
at one time I loaded 22 hornet, 44 mag 45 colt and 30 herret. had three grips, two frames, one scope. both length barrels in 22 hornet and 44. also had the choke extension for the 45.....good fun....
....not to share bedtime stories but me and rob have/do argue what powder what cartridge occasionally, lol. zbob
hmm just remembered one other set up in my contender pile>357 in the early tapered barrel....

Re: New Toy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thompson_Center_Arms Contender is the model, actually. 25grs. of 296 and a 240gr bullet ought to do it. Use at your own risk.

Re: New Toy
The AA#9 is also a good slow powder. Good for .357 high velocity loads too. The 44 should be a fine deer slayer.

Re: New Toy
If your after big hogs, say 250lb's and up I would consider some Hard Cast 250 gr Keith SWC's. For the smaller ones the 240 Sierra JHC's should surfice. Big hogs are pretty tough to put down sometimes, and you don't always get a perfect shot.

Re: New Toy
I haven't shot a big one yet, that one in OK was under 150. Any good sources for the lead? Local places don't carry much.supervel45 wrote:If your after big hogs, say 250lb's and up I would consider some Hard Cast 250 gr Keith SWC's. For the smaller ones the 240 Sierra JHC's should surfice. Re: New Toy
We have 3 at about 230lbs going to the Livestock Show. If they don't sell you can come test on them, but you will have to help clean them. I'll fire up the pit. LoL
