Re: New Toy
Just picked a 2x7 32mm Burris scope..... Get home and pull it out of the box and bam "made in Phillipines"..... WTF! Display model had USA plastered Hugh on the thing...... It's going back..... Guess I get to scratch Burris scopes off the "OK to buy" list now...... When did this shit start with Burris?

Re: New Toy
Just for reference.... Took the scope back to Cabelas.... One in the case..... You guessed it "made in USA" one in the box nope....... Use caution when buying a Burris scope if your expecting a made in USA part, it appears they are selling out like so many others.

Re: New Toy
Might try Nikon, they use to be nice, and may still be made in Japan. I will give a excellent rating to the old ones, from the 90's. You are on your on with a new ones.

Re: New Toy
I checked out the Nikon pistol scopes and the where real hard for me to pickup. The Burris stuff worked the best for me out of the 3-4 brands I looked at. It's just getting sickening seeing everything made in China or done Asian country.

Re: New Toy
I am with you there Defree. I believe Burris was the only American made scope for along time, before it all went to Japan. Now we want Japan to get anything good it seems? Might order something on line at one of the big optic's wholesalers, if you find something you like in paticular. I was hoping you where going open sights on the 44, and put the scope on a 35 Rem. barrel or something similar to it, if you have one?

Re: New Toy
I ended up with three 44 mag barrel, 10" TC with a TC x2 scope, a TC 12" with iron sights and a 12" Bullberry on the way with all the bells and whistles that this scope is going on.

Re: New Toy
I considered it could have been a Custom Builder, but JD Jones SSK always pops into my head when I hear Contender, and thought you may have mistyped. It's is good though, because I got a chance to look at his webpage. He sure has some nice wood stocks and custom gunsmith work in there. Looks like some high dollar stuff, but a good barrel is always worth it if you want accuracy. Post some nice 100yd bughole groups for us, when you ring it out.

Re: New Toy
LocTite it down and post some 100yd group pic's. Put 3 scope rings on it if you have to, but doubt you will need to with a 44 Mag. Got to have LocTite though.dfree383 wrote:Got to shoot it Sunday, it's a honker! But had issues with the sights loosening up.... Didn't have any lock tight with me....
