Sorry, friend, it is true, but look at it this way: Now you can buy some real good rockers. Take a look at Terra Yella rockers.
Hope that helps,
Dave

I bought a set of Crower stainless steel 1.73 rockers for my A460's. I don't think you can get a better stud mount rocker arm. Bought mine from Lem Evans.

I dont think all BBF 1.73 rockers will work with the spring dia. on A heads. I used the Crane Gold rockers on my TFS A heads.

Re: roller rocker 1.73 bbf a460?
Logan,
I'm sorry I did not see this post before. To answer your question, any true 1.73 ratio stud mounted rocker arm designed for the Fords will work with your A-460 heads. Years ago, Lem and I did a lot of checking (and measuring the lift at the retainer), and it seems that the Crane Gold, Ford SVO Blue, TFS black, and Lunati blue are all pretty much the same rocker arm. In addition to those four, we like the Comp Cams stainless steel rockers, the Probe rocker arms and the Crower rocker arms. We also very carefully checked a set of Yella-Terras and believe it or not, we never could get the lift at the retainer that the rocker arms were suspossed to give, and that was shimming correctly and using various length pushrods. We did not like the Yella Terra rockers.
I "think" Lem carries the Probe, the TFS, the Lunati, the Ford and the Comp Cams rocker arms in stock. Double check with Shawn in the parts dept. In addition to the above, we love the Jomar rocker arm stud girdles.
Hope this helps,
Charlie Evans

Re: roller rocker 1.73 bbf a460?
2X what they said about the crower rockers. More inital investment, but they last forever. We ran them on out circle boat at 7200-7400 rpm, 5 mile race plus 5 minute warm up. 4 racing heats a weekend and 12+ races a year. Ran them for years with zero problems. I have not done the math but I know it is a lot of cycles. We even flipped the boat during a race in Key Largo , the engine was full of salt water. We drained it and soaked everything in oil but several of the roller bearings rusted. We just replaced the bearings and were back in business. I feel they are a good investment.

You think wrong ... if you can use big sporings with those rockers on REGULAR heads then they will also fit on A460 heads.
It's about whether or not the rocker is clearanced for big diameter springs. If that rocker interferes with big springs then they would have interfered on regular heads also if big springs were used.
FRPP aluminum SCJ heads on the intake side are the only exception; they have LESS clearance.
Crane Gold, FRPP, Trick Flow and early Lunati are all the SAME manufacturer rocker arms.

Not trying to get in a pissing match, I was just trying to tell the guy that some rockers won't clear the springs on A heads. Not sure how the regular heads came up?

Re: roller rocker 1.73 bbf a460?
the builder told me that you need to weld the peds to keep them from moving arond.
i aint no motor builder but i did see what he was talking about and it is just a added safety.
i think that it is only held with only one bolt per rocker .
i dont rem. the brand

when you said peds, i was thinking -- welding the head peds. welding the Stands is no big thing. Jesel bolts the stands to each other
