Mountain Motor Ready for Local Divisional/National
Hey guys!
We've been long time lurkers, but rarely post. A few guys here know who we are. We were putting the motor back together today and figured we'd post a couple pictures and give thanks to some people who have helped us along the way. I figured it would fit best in this section, since it is engine related.
Motor is 816", older generation pro stock Hemi motor with 5.0" bore space. On the dyno, it never wanted to run correctly. After making tons of adjustments, we decided to leave the door to the dyno cell open. We then found out the motor was sucking all the air out of the dyno cell. While it still wasnt happy, it did give us a pull to 6600RPM, and made 1500 HP, and 1278 torque. With the horrible way it was running, we like to figure it would have made 1600 if it would have kept revving.
We run it in Top Sportsman, in a '57 Fairlane. Powerglide, 34.5 Hoosier, 4.30 Gear, Coan Bolt Together Converter. Car has been 6.92 @ 197. Would be neat to hit the 200MPH mark, but the Fairlane isnt quite the most aerodynamic body out there.
Overall, the motor is fairly low maintenance. We only turn it to 7700RPM, so it is nice to the valvetrain...usually. Today we finished putting it back together after pulling a rocker arm stud out. Wasnt horrible..should be good to go.
Special thanks to:

Sure I am missing some. All of these people(and others), have helped us get to where we are and make this all happen. We're usually known as the "California Guys", as most of you hardcore guys are back east somewhere. Thanks to everyone for helping us out along the way!

Re: Mountain Motor Ready for Local Divisional/National
Congrats to the Curley family! Looking good Kyle. Hey, 7700 rpm with an 816 CID Hemi is way up there, because with that long stroke the piston speed is astronomical. I hope you get the bugs sorted out, as soon as you do, I'm sure it will bust 200 mph.

Frank, those are LSM .937" keyed lifters. They've been good to us so far.
Pics of the car below. It was once all yellow, but an incident with the wall forced us to change the color up a bit.
Thanks for the kind words guys!

Is the quarter panel removed in the bottom pic for repair OR because of user friendly tire/wheel removal. That is 1 trick 57. I love it.

That's what needs to be done on LiL Tweety, the rear tire removal is a bitch. I saw a 67 Nova that the Qt panels were removable.
