You are leaving power on the table w/carb. i understand if thats what you already have. 1250 would work better imo. Watch that big int. valve w/bore on the 547. Power should be good . Whats the weight?

Go 4.600 bore and make it a 572. You want the big bore with the big valves.

Re: A-head 547
4.5" bore with a 4.3" stroke right? Isn't the bore big enough for those valves or will he still need to notch the top of the block?

Bore the block, it's a bunch of power. And the a460 stuff has plenty of rebuilds left at that bore.

Wow that outta be a Monster with 572 CID and 15:1 CR.
How large of a bore can an A-460 block have, I thought 4.6 was the limit.

Boring it that much about killed me. Will it work like this? As for carb I already have it and I think it will make more power than I was after to begin with. Any thought on how much power?

You need pistons and rings either was it's not expensive to go the additional .100 over it's done all the time.

If you have the ser # of the A460 block, call Ford Racing and they should be able to send you the sonic test for your block. (I think)

Re: A-head 547
Well tomorrow is the day I finally get to race, I hope. Tried a few weeks back, to many problems never made a full pass. Our home track Greer Dragway is having their big Turkey Trot end of season race. Anyone close should come, weather looks good so there should be alot of cars.

Did not dyno it, wished I would have. Most of the problems that I have had would have been found then. Live and learn I guess.

4.84 at 140 mph Carb is bad fat at ideal. Ordered a kit today from Holley to rebuild it. The guy at Holley said he thought my jets were to small, so I ordered 4 more. Also my water pump and fan took a dump, so lots to do before next weekend.
