429 or 460 piston
I just picked up a C9VE429 short block and set of DOVE-A heads for $300 The motor was rebuilt, but I tore it apart to check everything. Most looks OK. I'll have the crank polished and will probably put Eddy Performer heads on it. The pistons are forged L2404. Isn't that a 460 piston??
I want to get almost 10.1 compression out of it before dropping in my 68 Torino.
Thoughts?

Why the heck would they do that? It's a 4U crank. The 460 piston will put it above deck then, shouldn't it?

The 460 pistons have a shorter pin height so the will install with a 429 crank but will be way in the hole.

I guess I'm gonna be building a 460 instead of a 429 now. Just need a crank.

I'm going to check out the crank locally today. GaryS how much ya want for it?
In the 1980's I had a `71 GS 455. Will never forget the incredible torque I felt in that car. Looking for that sensation once again!

You're in for a treat. A decent 460 will make that Buick seem really weak.

That's a kind offer GaryS. I live in Los Angeles, so that free crank would turn into an expensive crank... fast. Thanks much though!
