Yes, it bolts directly too the extension housing and can be clocked.

Looks really stout! So what features does the box have? Can you change gears? Does it have a chain?

it is a straight cut gear box suppose to be good for a ton of power. It is a quick change gear box, but the design only allows you to change the gear ratio going to the front axle. In case you want to run smaller diameter in the front. It weights 80lbs.
They where the only manufacturer I could find that offered. Mated straight thru design.

Re: 4x4 project 84 F150
I took the truck to a body shop to have the frame checked for straightness and pull the bed out square before just going off and buying a bed. Come to find out the frame was bent. When they straightened the frame it pulled the bed back into shape. Picked the truck up from the body shop 6-5-15 and looks a thousands time better!
it's almost time to start digging into the truck!
PS. I got a new job two weeks ago so I have slowed down until I get settled in my new job.

Underhood paint question: While the engine is out I'd love to paint the engine compartment. The cheapest and easiest way would be to use a rattle can. Do any of you know if there is anyone that makes a red close in color to the Ford 2E, light canyon red? (VHT, etc.) I looked on the internet and found some places that could mix the color I need and put it into a aresol can but the price jumps way up there

Re: 4x4 project 84 F150
Gentlemen, I have found another truck that will save me a ton of money!
It is a 1994 F150, 4x4 that has a perfect body. So perfect the front of the bed doesn't have a dig in it! Interior is complete with radio and AC. No tears in the factory seat or carpet. Only thing about the truck is it has 350,000 miles on the 351 and I'm not worried about that as I plan to swap the 521 into it..
My questions are now turned to how I can use the factory gauges with the 521, C6 & factory AC.

Or... I could use this new truck as a tow truck and turn the 84 into a raceing mud truck?

Re: 4x4 project 84 F150
I don't think the gauges are computer controlled in 94. The only thing maybe the speedometer. I maybe wrong and it might be cable driven. It might have been later but, I think the speedometer is involved with the ABS and VSS sensors. There is a way to avoid any problem by using Autometer's GPS sensor to drive the speedometer.
The AC could be made to wrong but it maybe tricky and take some time to sort out. The hardware will be fine and the electrical might be as easy as connecting the compressor clutch on the 521.
Would electrical diagrams do you any good? If so I will see what I can do to dig up some for you.

Correction, it has 392,000 miles! Here is a picture of the truck at home.

Speedo is VSS driven from top of rearend. Diagrams I used to have seemed decent for that truck. I had a 94 as well. You should be able to get the dash to continue working as well as the AC (I think it's all old school vacuum operated and typical electrical clutch, etc...)
ABS was rear wheel only if I recall too.

I want your opinion.
When I start the engine swap should I remove the front clip or not? I would like to stab the motor in with the transmission bolted to it.

Re: 4x4 project 84 F150
I'll start updating this thread again. 9/14/15
Pretty much have everything but the wiring disconnected up top. The ugly part is going to be pulling the transmission. Fortunately the transmission was recently rebuilt. I say recent, less than two hundred miles but over 9 years ago.
All of the bolts are surprisingly coming out easy. The real test will be the exhaust manifold bolts. I know I can always cut the exhaust pipe. I hope I can use the ac compressor and power steering pump with the 460. I doubt I'll be able to use the alternator unless I go with a factory style acc brackets. The only reason I don't want to use the factory brackets is cause they clutter the engine. As I stated earlier I'd like the engine bay to be real clean looking.
Looks like I shouldn't have valve cover clearance issues.

Sorry for the confusion. I need to start a thread just for the 94 F150. I'm going to stick with the in line 6 and maybe do the blow thru setup.
