Factory heads and intake
I pull in a tractor class that requires we use factory iron heads, block and intake manifold. We must use a 650 Holley and a MSD box with a 6k chip. A wide torque curve is best. Is there any benefit to cylinder head modifications (i.e. porting etc.)? Perry

Factory Iron
We run 500 c.i. or less, running 3.85 stroke and flat tappet. Pretty open other than that. We are at 14.8 to 1 comp ratio. Racing gas, no alcohol. Tuning mods only on carb. Perry

My class is limited to 472,,, Iam running Iron heads,,, the last mods to them were strictly on the ex. side, if you want more in you have to get more out

Max effort port the factory iron heads, iron CJ intake, and offset stroke an OEM crankshaft to 4.125", 6.7" rod, 4.39" bore 1.54"-ish c/h piston, and you'll have a really good 499 CI platform to start with.hpwdboss1 wrote:I pull in a tractor class that requires we use factory iron heads, block and intake manifold. Or you could stroke to 4.05", 6.7 rod, and a KB IC855 for a 490 (+0.030") to 497 (+0.060").....
Re; Factory heads and intake
Thanks for helping again, guys. Have spoken to Mr. C. Evans and going to work on a fresh pair of heads.
