The EARLIER "Ford Motorsport" A460 intake manifold is a LOT lower.

Well Coug some people are concerned about cutting up the hood , especially with some of these high dollar paint jobs, sure you can get both heights but still hard to just picture it , so a side by side photo would help I figure .

What Coug is referring too is this.Add about 2" more to the a460 heighth because the heads are taller too. Shocked

I figured he was just educating me on the fact that not all intakes fit all heads , when I said switching over I wasn't talking just intakes , I meant the switch to a A460 motor. Good to know tho Rick that it will be even taller when all done.

What I am saying is the A460 intake is for A460 heads ONLY a square raised port head, the Mafia intake is for a factory production round or Oval port in std layout. Between the 2 intakes there is about 1 1/2 inch difference in port height location another words they will not fit the same head, they are for 2 completely different heads....

Yes I know this , but now I see how some might think you can just switch intakes , my bad Embarassed , I should've said for those who are thinking about switching over to the A460 engine, so thanks for clearing that up.

Not exactly Rick. Yes the A-460 heads are taller, but the carb pad height difference is what you see there in the picture, when they are sitting side by side. Because the China rail location is their common measuring point in regards to both styles of engines. Meaning as long as both manifolds are setting flat and level on the floor, the carb pad height difference of the two assembled engines, will be the same as when they are side by side like in the picture.

the distance from the top of the block or the lifter valley seal is the same as the manifolds sitting on the floor. Your using the block top as the reference point to measure the height difference. The port alignment has nothing to do with it, that's factored into the intake as to how the ports raise or lower from the seal line at the block. Charlie was pointing out there wont be a greater difference than what is in the image.....
