Mafia intake ? Empty Mafia intake ?

Post  Hardy July 25th 2017, 1:49 pm

Currently running a 507 (4.41x4.15) with blue thunder cj heads (I believe the ports are "out of the box"), solid roller, untouched Victor manifold, 13.5:1 compression. Drag race only, shift at 6800. Car has been 9.96 at 133 at 3500#. Any chance a Mafia intake would do better ? Or is the Victor enough for a smaller ci deal like this?

Is your victor ported? Runners have a good radius at the top? clover leaf cut out?

If not the Mafia will probably help, if it is a good Victor, you may not see any significant gains on that small inch engine.

The victor looks exactly the way it came out of the box

They ain't very good out of the box, very ruff and port makes almost a 90* out of the plenum.

So it sounds like I may have something to gain with the mafia the way it is now (probably not a huge gain i'm not sure). I do have plans of adding displacement and getting the heads worked, so seems like it wouldn't be a bad investment

If your going to bigger and better things down the road, then yes get the Mafia, I have seen it not help much on small engines but never hurt one.

I have seen 20 hp on a good engine. And not just in the higher rpms either.

More than once, I have seen it make less power and a lot less torque on anything but an engine over 550 cubic inches or a smaller engine not running over 7,500 RPM.

Port match the Victor and square off the plenum entry of the carb pad, (the end runner entries will NEED to be ported), and see nothing but improvement.
