Mafia intake ?
Would this intake work with a high winding 468 14.5:1 Max ported Set of P-51 heads with a good rotating assembly and solid roller cam?

Re: Mafia intake ?
Out of the box yes, but find a used ported Victor and the Mafia may not be worth any more power on a small inch engine.
To get a small big block ford to make power above 7000 you will need to modify a cast manifold no matter what you buy.

Lots of research, time and welding rod in modifying this intake......

Re: Mafia intake ?
I think I would like to try it! I haven't found anyone that has with all of my research ! I think it would be interesting to see what the diff would be between the Mafia intake and the vic. intake ported and un ported
on a small cubic inch big block 466 to 480 cid.

Re: Mafia intake ?
I have already done that, a Mafia intake is worth around 15 hp maybe more on a 560 to 580 inch engine with heads flowing over 400 cfm over a max ported Victor.
It is not worth much on a small inch deal even with good flowing heads, unless it was a super max effort deal. And may not help them, never tried that.
And I know super max effort is a open ended statement Mr Malick...........

Re: Mafia intake ?
A little more rpms can be found to with modifying the intake like this. Was it like 400 more rpms or something Blake?

Re: Mafia intake ?
In the past year I have picked up some pretty good big block parts ! So I may try it heads may change and might up the compression .but it would still be a small cube big block !

I agree with you Blake.
I had a shortened end runner, welded intake on a high winding 429 CJ, (actually 438 cid), tuned on the dyno. Trying a "Mafia" intake, just cleaned-up, LOST a little power. The Victor DID have a LOT of work and time spent on it, lol.
If comparing BOTH "out of the box" I am sure the Trick Flow would have been the better piece at that high RPM level.

Re: Mafia intake ?
Do you guys consider a 501 with @ 13 to 1 smallish. Currently running an out of the box Victor. Drag race only.

Re: Mafia intake ?
On that run it started heading north of 8800 which was tighter than I'd ever wound that motor, so I pull the go stick a touch cuz I was afraid it might make the boom sound lol.
That motor is a .040 over, stock stroke, truck crank was done by Adney, intake was from Lem, and the motor was built by Dennis Woody. Pistons were custom forged Diamonds with Oliver billet rods, Heads were DO0e-R's that woody rubbed on flowing 415 on the intakes.
If all goes well, I will have another mafia intake on my 521 build in a few months.

Re: Mafia intake ?
Intake manifolding is like most other componets in an engine...it's application driven. I've had persons inquire about a "mafia" intake for their engine and advised them that they needed a Torker II....not a Victor or the TFS unit.
I'll use J.Y. Kell's 562" P51 engine as an example....it's been four years since it was done and a few things have changed but , I feel it is a valid example.
There was 17 more HP at the two manifold's peak power rpm in favor of the 'mafia' thing. The fully ported victor manifolds [w/o welding etc.] seem to hit a rpm number and immediately fall off.
Randy's engine with the 'mafia':
950.6 HP @ 6,700 rpm
950.6 HP @ 6,800 rpm
951.3 HP @ 6,900 rpm
950.7 HP @ 7,000 rpm
That's .7 Hp from 6,700 rpm to 7,000 rpm...seems the engine is hanging on to it's power.
I have two regrets....
1] The engine was not pulled to 7,200 rpm with the 'mafia thing'.
2] I did not get a copy of the dyno sheet for the best pull with the ported Victor.
Bottom line is that @ 7,000 rpm the ported victor had went back to the house and was down a lot more than 17 hp.
