GoPro mounting
Show us some of the crazy and different places and different ways you have mounted your GoPro on your race cars, boats or anything.

Re: GoPro mounting
I have mounted mine on the roll bars, dash, and under the back looking at the rear chassis. I buy my mounts off ebay you can get them for over half the price you pay at Walmart. You can fine some nice cases for storing them also.

Re: GoPro mounting
When I mount mine on the rollcage, the vibration makes the video jerky and the sound is for S$%&. Mounted on the helmet or body is ok. I even wrapped a piece of rubber hose around the bar and clamped to that, same result. Anybody else have that problem? Maybe I need a setting change in the camera?

Make sure the camera itself isn't loose in the clear case. GoPro has moisture-absorbing strips for the sealed housings that can also double as shims/dampeners in the open cases, cutting down on the vibration issues. I suppose cardboard strips or folded paper could serve the same purpose.
Re: GoPro mounting
Camera is snug as can be in the housing. Do you guys have some favorite settings for your cameras?
Sorry for the hijack, Rick...but it's GoPro related.

Very nice piece.. but limited benefit to a roll bar application as shown in the video. It does cut down "jitter" quite well though
Seems to kick ass everywhere else
Re: GoPro mounting
Rick that takes all the problems out of watching all these shakey out of focus not pointed in the right direction videos we watch on here...
the ones I really like are the ones where they video the race and then walk around the pits for 45 minutes or so and have no clue they still have the camera on....

Re: GoPro mounting
Amazon has them for $200.Like DFI429 said,i don't know if it would help the shake on the rollbar though.

I was thinking that mount does its' job very well in a hand-held application, and if mounted in a roll bar scenario it helps smooth out the jitters... But part of what I like about "in car" videos is the brutal reality, un-dampened
I might be on a similar tangent to Randy

Re: GoPro mounting
IMO the in-car camera stuff is usually kinda boring to watch (well....unless it's a crash/fire/mishap of course). Same goes for the rear view shot from the top of the trunk/deck wing area. Same goes for the forward view shot out on the nose of the front end.
In a gopro video I want to see "work get'n done". Shoot under car video of the rear slicks/suspension/shocks, or the front suspension, or the wheelie bar wheels. Or stick the camera at the back of the car on the side pointing forward showing what the nose is doing, (& any kool fender exit header nos flame), or down pointing at the slicks.

Re: GoPro mounting
Probably won't happen...Daddy Dave has a public image to maintain. Jon makes that more difficult.GT300TD wrote:richter69 wrote:Looking backwards is always a favorite of mine....

Maybe Dave has a video from a FORWARD FACING GoPro that shows a black Grande leaving him behind like he missed a bus.

I bet we all have to delete one of those now and then. They're usually laced with lots of colorful dialogue, too.
