question on roller cam bearings
DOVE-A block
I am assuming for roller cam bearing i need the block machined for that
but my question is after the block has been machined (bored decked honed etc..) should I take it home and throughly clean it before installing the new cam bearings?
and another question in regard to something else...what is involved in O-ringing a block and what exactly is it?
Thanks

Re: question on roller cam bearings
on the roller bearing make sure you have a steel Billit cam or it will trash the camshaft...
on the Orings it is not necessary any more sense they have cometic head gaskets....

I am assunming the orings replace the head gaskets.
this motor will later be converted to a high compression or n2o motor

Re: question on roller cam bearings
O Ring is a grove machined into the head or the block or both and a wire placed in the grove to lock the head block together a head gasket is still used.

no,the o rings dont replace the gaskets,we spray 16.5 to 1 comp engines ,and dont use o-rings, we dont like copper, but we run into where blocks have been o ringed, and have to use them, other wise we dont,im testing some new things with a oring engine just because it was all ready done, we will see

Re: question on roller cam bearings
I only run the roller cam bearings because I had some one install the cam bearing wrong and they spun in the newly machined block. So to save the block I had the cam tunnel machined to accept the bearings. I feel that there is no ET advantage to this.

Just wanted to make sure that you were aware that you need to add the groove to the block in the front cam bearing location. As the roller bearings do not have the outer groove.
