OIl pump gasket
I run the hv melling pump and wanted to know where to get the pickup tube to pump gaskets? I can make them as I have been doing. Or I thought about milling a receiver groove in the pump body for placement of an o-ring. But it would also be easy just to put a new gasket in it.

Why is it that you don't like about the ones you make yourself?

"Right stuff" and no gasket ... Spread thin ... Verify surfaces are flat first
Gaskets seem to allow air past causing cavitation issues

Same here...but with TA31. Very thin and not close to the block oil hole so the excess silicone will go to the outside of the pump mounting flange.
Edit: Sorry guys, I was thinking of the pump to block gasket. I do use a gasket at the pickup to pump mounting but, most of what I've done the past decade has a custom pickup with a thicker mounting flange that does not bend like the off the rack stuff.
Re: oil pump gasket
Thanks, some of the time I just need a supportive friend. I have made my own gaskets several times and didn't have any troubles. Just wondered if there were some quick and easy that might be less likely to allow air to be pulled past. Just another o.c.d. my brain spit out at 2:00 a.m. while I think about about building a new larger diameter pick-up and tube.

I've built a few 1 inch OD tubes ... They work great ... If you need parts check out highflowdynamics.com
Paul has nice pickup tube parts, this really helps the oil system above 7000 rpm ...
