Drag trucks
I have a new project, putting a 557 in a gen 1 lighting. Never set a truck up, any advise on good suspension parts. It is a ladder bar rear.

Re: Drag trucks
Biggest problem with trucks in drag racing is weight transfer. No matter what you do, you will never get real close to 50/50, they are all nose heavy. Good shock and springs in the front will help it transfer weight better..also, some weight in the bed can also help. M y truck is tube chassis, but it still is 60/40 nose heavy.

Re: Drag trucks
The 514 Ranger was 58/42. Ladder bars, and transferred well. Wheels way up on launch....downtrack, not so good.

Re: Drag trucks
Too many people "assume" pickups are hadicapped by poor weight bias.
Ive heard it all...and frankly my experience says its not an issue at all.
My 3800 lb all steel f100 is getting low 1.40 60fts on leafsprings and 275 dragradials. Run 6.30s w a57% nose weight.

Re: Drag trucks
Awesome truck. The weight bias isn't really a handicap once you get it set up. One thing that we have found is that, once you have a truck setup, so that it will transfer weight, is that... When you get weight transfer, there is a lot of it...which is a good thing.

Re: Drag trucks
Like James has posted...fox bodys are heavier on the front percentage than alot of pickups and nobodys complaining about how poorly they work
Point being theres just alot more too it than just weight bias....

Our really quick radial cars are well over 57-58%. Ladder bar, cal trac, 4 link all work

Re: Drag trucks
My truck is 52% front/48 rear. I don't know how it's going to work yet as it always breaks before I can even get down the track, lol. I fear it may not have enough weight on the front.
