A pickup tube is welded to the oil sump with a an adaptor on it, then a hose goes to the inlet side of the pump.
From the pump you use another floes to go to an adaptor/inlet located at the oil filter boss on the side of the block, then it follows the same path thru the oil filter into the engine as normal with the internal pump.
