mild p51 combo
I have a 502 using otb p51 heads, victorintake,flat tappet cam,850 demon vac sec,hooker headers using a powerglide in a fox body. It has been 9.79 at 137 but runs 10.00 mid summer .Its no rocket but has been a reliable bracket motor 2 years now. Jeff

It weighs 3120 with driver.Compression should have been 12to1 ,but the pistons are 25 thou in the hole.It only pumps 170 on a compression gauge.

Thanks. I'm buiulding a Mustang myself. Hoping to get it in the 9's and posts like these keep reassuring me that it will happen.

Its a comp catalog cam 272 276 650ish before lash. Gear ratio is 3.73 with 28 10.50.15 mt slicks. convertor is an 8inch coan approx 5500 .Im not sure how to post pictures. The combo is not matched perfect but it fits well in the 10.00 index class milan started last year.

Thats sounds great this is what i am looking to build for the same class here at atco in nj...did you use engine plates or just the hooker kit with regular mounts i was thinking of using 4:10 gears do you think thats to low for that combo...thanks Doug

I used an AJE kmember that has its own motor mounts that set the motor down a bit and made some 1inch aluminum spacers.The steering shaft and hooker headers need extra work with this set-up.The 373 gears put me at 6600 at the finish line,So 4.10 gears would be a little to much.Hope this helps Doug Post your progess this winter.
