What size and stall convertor do you use? [/quote]
The convertor I was using is an 8" that stalled about 5800 behind my old combo. After the heads were fixed and a new cam it stalled about 6400. It hit hard at the launch and never felt like it could pull the motor down hardly any when it shifted. I went a 5.18@134 with a 1.11 60 ft. with it. I've got a new one ordered from Greg Slack at Convertor Design Specialist. It's a 9" spragless. Greg is an excellent guy to deal with and builds a great product, but it ain't cheap! He recently had one of his convertors in the car that reset the promod 1/4 mile mph world record at Vegas.

I had a 8" behind a 499 that ran 5.40/128 with a 1.21 60 ft. Stalled 5500 and went through at 7000 with a 4.88 gear.
New combo A-Headed 572 and changed the gear to 4.56. I'm thinking a 10" converter stall about 6000.

We're probably pretty close on our combinations. Mine is an A-head 588. I've been running a 5.14 gear. I have a 4.88 but I'm going to wait until I can try the new convertor before I change it. Give Greg a call, he'll be glad to discuss what would be the best for your combo. I really believe there isn't a better convertor out there than Greg's. Plus he's a Ford guy! He's got both big inch small and big blocks in his cars. Tell him David Scruggs sent you 704-983-1972. If you have to leave him a message he will call you back!

I hear Mr. Slack is someone to consider for an N.A. deal.

He is Lem! But I believe he can probably build one for most any application and have it perform well!

I am going to pull the top end off the 640 and find out why it doesn't run as good as it should. Head work, camshaft, revised fuel injector location, change over to a new hybrid electronic/mechanical injector setup and either a new A460 TR intake or a new billet tunnel ram built by my shop. Oh, and maybe a paint job, lol...
Paints for slow cars...
Just adds weight...... LOL
Well, we found some engine damage when we took the heads off, so it looks like all my winter funds will go to fixing the engine and making it better. No worries though, Phillip Oakley is going to fix it and make everything correct, so I look forward to the truck hauling butt next year!

I'm staying NA and DD I assume will be in goliath 2.0 with umpteen stages of spray. After seeing all these wrecks, I don't think I'm ever going to do any no prep stuff. It's stupid.

As far as what I'm going to do this winter. I'm going to put bigger FOR SALE signs on the Zephyr, and try to find a new house, back to Phoenix! No more racing for me, son doesn't want to drive and I can't any more. I guess my life will be camping and working on my Fairlanes.

Well I might change the gears in my F350 to a 3.55 and put a tuner in it but for the Ranger it is ready just drain and flush the cooling system out to get the antifreeze out and do a oil change and it ready.

The AK is a go to weapon, damn near indestructible, I have one. The AR is a more precise rifle, accuracy is greater.

True, my ar will shoot better groups for sure. If it all goes to shit tomorrow the ak will be the weapon of choice lol

Re: What is your winter updates and next years racing plans
My Winter plans have been intterupted by Polar Mialgia Rhumetias, dunno if I spelled that right. Its a joint inflamation/ deteroation conditon. I could go blind if it dosent get better. Been seeing specialists at U.M. in Ann Arbor. Some days are okay with slight pain. Others, I cant hardly dress myself. I may have to retire on disability, well see.
Our MAVERICK just needs sheetmetal/ paint/ plumbing/ and wiring. we have all the engine parts, except for a hat injector. if I lick this soon, maybe get to do some testing next year.
Life sure sucks sometimes.
Happy Holidays to everyone

Sorry to hear that Al, I've been retired on disability for 14 years now, and I have found that it's not what it's cracked up to be. Hopefully they will find a way to make you feel better. I hope you get the maverick racing too. I ran into Al Miller at the gun show two weeks ago, he's doing good.
