I am new here on the site and new to big block fords. I am building a drag car . Here is what I have 460 30 over, stock crank, stock rods ARP bolts, forged flat top pistons the bottom end is done. Heads are Dove. I have not done anything to them I know they need porting but what valve size? what cam? I would like to run a solid tappet ? what intake?  Would like to make 500 hp or I am way off?

I had a 460 in my Ranger when I built it my 460 was standard 4.36 bore with flat top speed pro pistons, dove heads with home porting done by myself with 2.08 ss valves and 1.65 ss valves, victor intake, 1050 dominator carb, with a custom solid flat tappet cam from Randy Malik  by the times slips it made 536hp with Wallace Racing Cals. truck wt 3265 et 6.72 1/8mile

Leave the Victor manifold runners alone; just square-off the front and rear of the Dominator plenum and round the sharp edges.
Port MATCH the D0VE head intake ports at the flange to the manifold port locations..

Doing these makes a work of difference and with the right cam, you'd be surprised what that motor will make Twisted Evil

This was all I did to my intake Randy told me how to do it when I ordered the cam from him..

on mine 429heads back in the 90's TO 2006, I pocket ported the intake only on the intake and did full port on the exhaust.THEY ran great to my 7200 rpms limit I had on my MSD BOX
