Valve cover modification
This is the corner of left valve cover we had to modify to clear master cylinder in early mustang engine bay. Nice to have welder buddies

Will it clear the valve spring?

Re: Valve cover modification
I used a paper triangle template on head to use to mark valve cover. These aftermarket covers are really fat compared to the factory covers. My aluminum cobra jet covers clear the master cylinder easily, but are way too short to fit the stud girdle.

Yup....very helpful to have friends who weld. I had my friend weld on AN fittings and a fill cap bung on my valve covers and fortunately I can do my own powder coating.

Re: Valve cover modification
Thank you. These are on my first big block engine. Did a conversion in my 2005 Mustang that I drag race from a supercharged 4.6 modular 3-valve engine to a 521 BBF. Have some consistency issues I need to figure out but the engine overall seems to be running well.

Re: Valve cover modification
Good torque converter and electric water pump to cool engine between rounds helped my car gain consistency

I have a good setup in that sense...I have a trans specialties 2500 powerglide with their super 8 converter and I have the Meziere 45gpm water pump. I believe my consistency issue has to do with the fact that my air filter and carb stick out of the hood and I'm getting some disruption to the air flow over the carb at speed and when there is a cross-wind. I also run on E85 so cooling isn't an issue anyway. I will be either putting a bolt on cowl or a full cowl hood to get the carb under the hood soon.
Sorry for the thread-jack. I'll stop posting stuff about my setup in your thread.

Re: Valve cover modification
No problem at all, I wish my mustang had that kind of room in engine bay. We had to cut the shock towers back 2 1/2 inches on each side to make it somewhat livable (again, same buddy welded those and my roll bar, I bet he hates hotrods ha ha)
